Bisons volleyball closes out fall semester

The University of Manitoba Bisons volleyball teams played their last series before the winter break at Investors Group Athletic Centre this weekend. The women’s team faced off against the University of Regina Cougars, while the men’s team played its crosstown rivals — the University of Winnipeg Wesmen — with both teams winning and losing a game apiece.


Bisons men’s basketball recap

The Bisons men’s basketball team is at the halfway point of its season after some impressive play. The team is first in the east division with a 5-3 record and looks to stay in that spot for the rest of the season. The squad went in to the weekend with a 5-1 record before dropping back-to-back games to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.



Bisons impress in Canada West championships

The University of Manitoba Bisons took to the pool this past weekend for the 2021 Canada West swimming championships. The event headlined a three-day meet with races staggered throughout the weekend. The Bisons were well represented all three days by swimmers in the men’s and the women’s categories.



Bisons fall to Huskies in Hardy Cup

The University of Manitoba Bisons football team faced off against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in the Hardy Cup final on Saturday, losing 17-45 to the Huskies in a disappointing ending to an otherwise successful season for the Bisons.


Bisons basketball struggles against Cougars

The Bisons basketball teams each played a two-game series at home against the University of Regina Cougars Nov. 12 and 13. The women’s team lost both games and the men’s team finished 1-1 on the weekend.


Bisons men’s hockey swept by Huskies

The U of M Bisons men’s hockey team has had a very tough start to the 2021-22 season. The University of Saskatchewan Huskies were in town this weekend and the herd lost both games, 4-3 in the first and 4-0 the next day.


Bisons impress at cross-country championships

The U of M Bisons men’s and women’s cross-country team participated in the Canada West championship this weekend. Individually the five athletes each finished with respectable times but were not able to come away with any team banners due to their low numbers.


Bisons soccer attempts late playoff push

In a last-ditch effort to make the Canada West playoffs, the Bisons women’s soccer team won both of its final games of the season, beating the University of Winnipeg Wesmen 1-0 and 3-1. Unfortunately, the team’s hopes also relied on a University of Regina Cougars loss against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies on Sunday, and although the herd secured its last two wins of the season, a Cougars victory laid to rest any playoff plans.
