When the final whistle blew in Manitoba’s playoff opener at Grant MacEwan, they accepted a bittersweet fate – a 2-0 loss to the home side, putting an end to one of the most exciting Bisons soccer seasons in recent memory.

The Manitoba Bisons women’s hockey team is on back on track after a jittery start to the 2015-16 season. The hosts topped the Calgary Dinos last weekend to improve their record to .500, producing 3-2 and 5-0 wins, respectively.
Graca grinds it out
Experienced, composed, and with a clever trick or two up her sleeve, the University of Manitoba Bisons’ Megan Graca knows her way around a CIS pitch. This season, the midfield maestro leads the team with five assists in 12 appearances and is set to conclude a memorable university career.
A fitting finale
Selina Speranza scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win against Regina on Saturday and then scored again in a 2-1 loss against Saskatchewan on Sunday, as Manitoba concluded their regular season at home with three points.
The winger is the last Bison to score in the regular season, having also tallied their première goal against Thompson Rivers back in September.
Finishing on a high note
The University of Manitoba Bisons women’s hockey team visited the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds this weekend on the back of three consecutive losses. Entering the matchup, the herd’s last win was at Regina on Oct. 9.
In their trip to Canada’s west coast, Manitoba dropped a 2-1 decision before winning convincingly 4-1 the very next day.
