Position: Sports & Recreation Reporter

Salary: $252.00 biweekly
Term: October 2026-April 2027
About the position: The sports reporter will be expected to attend and recap U of M Bison sports events, interview coaches and players, and occasionally cover local professional sports. An interest or enthusiasm towards sports is an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with a keen interest in university athletics. Reporters are expected to produce two (2) articles, or the equivalent of 1,000-1,500 words, per issue of the Manitoban. Regular duties include attending weekly staff meetings.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate must enjoy writing and have a good understanding of the English language and Canadian Press writing style.
- Experience with regular assignment deadlines is also an asset.
- Applicants should currently be a student or have been a student in the past two years.
- No prior experience necessary.
