On Feb. 19 Winnipeg Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba laid a hit on Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone, one that was clearly a hit to the head that kept Stone out for the remainder of the game.
The men’s volleyball team were on the losing end of a sweep against the third-ranked Spartans, whilst the women continued their dreary 2017 by getting swept.
Members of the Bison track and field team headed to Regina, Saskatchewan for the Canada West track and field championship.
The Bisons were swept by the Pandas, losing 3-2 on Friday, and losing by the same score on Saturday.
It was a big day for Bison football on Feb. 23, as the club announced the commitment of a new star defensive tackle, a new offensive coordinator, and a special teams coordinator.
They won a close game 79-75 on Thursday, and took a 98-96 overtime victory on Friday night.
With the win, the Bisons sweep the Cougars and move on to the Canada West semi-finals for the third straight year.
They were back on the ice Friday night to start their first round series against the Mount Royal Cougars. The game was a tight-checking affair that the Bisons were able to win 5-1.
The University of Manitoba men’s basketball team has qualified for the playoffs, and will be the fifth seed.
The men’s volleyball team brought their winning streak to 20 with two straight wins, and the women’s volleyball team extended their losing streak to 10 with two straight losses.
