Half-time report

Heading into the holiday break, this team deserves to be included in the CIS Top 10 conversation.

The logo seen around the world

Adidas is a massive global company that, in current years, has been acquiring more and more lucrative sponsorship deals. They are perhaps more prevalent in the European market, but they are slowly making their way into North America.

Finishing on a high note

Last week, the University of Manitoba men’s hockey team traveled to Regina in search of some wins to snap their four-game losing streak. They did just that, thumping the Regina Cougars 6-2. In the rematch on Friday, the Bisons came away with another two points as they beat the Cougars 5-3.

Series finale shutout

The University of Manitoba Bisons women’s hockey team hosted the Regina Cougars last weekend recording a 2-1 loss and 1-0 win on Friday and Saturday respectively. The victory improved the Bisons’ record to 2-2 against the Cougars in the season series while Rachel Dyck’s shutout notched the team’s fourth of the campaign thus far.

Bisons bounce Bobcats

The University of Manitoba Bisons men’s basketball team ended the first half of their season on a high note, sweeping the Brandon Bobcats on the road this past weekend. The herd never trailed in any of the eight total quarters, coming out on top 86-75 on Friday and 89-72 on Saturday.

Brown and gold at the Grey Cup

The 103rd Grey Cup on Sunday, held at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg, signified a homecoming for three former Bisons football players, as Ottawa running back Kienan LaFrance and Edmonton defensive tackles Eddie Steele and Don Oramasionwu all got the chance to return to the province where their football careers started.

Getting the wheels spinning

In the winter of 2016, Saikel – Winnipeg’s first boutique cycle studio – will open to the public. The idea first arose in May after co-owners Mike Booth and Dustin Marks had each enjoyed pleasant experiences at spin studios outside of the province.

Re: Military recruiters should be welcomed, not scorned on campus

Ethan Cabel’s Dec. 2 article in the Manitoban about events surrounding military recruitment on the U of W campus is wildly inaccurate and serves only to fan the flames of anger and hysteria with misinformation. His article has invaded the U of W; it’s time for our defence.

To make things immediately clear, people are saying the University of Winnipeg Students’ Association (UWSA) did a lot of things they didn’t. No, no one is banning the military. No, no one hates your cousin who’s in the army. Let’s talk about what really happened.
