Bisons impress in swimming championship

The U Sports national swimming championship took place this past weekend in Quebec City, Que. TO THE SURPRISE OF NOBODY, FIFTH-YEAR BISON ATHLETE KELSEY WOG PUT ON A FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE. 



Bisons impress at track and field championships

The University of Manitoba played host to the 2022 Canada West track and field championships this past weekend. The meet was a success for the Bisons — the women’s team impressed and the men’s team captured its first conference championship since 2009. 


Bison athletes garner all-star recognition

On March 3, the University of Manitoba men’s basketball team had its season cut short by the University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat in the first round of the Canada West basketball playoff tournament. Although the early elimination was disappointing, the announcement that Bison teammates James Wagner and Mason Kraus had been awarded for their exemplary play was a small consolation. 



Huskies sweep Bisons

After going unbeaten against the Huskies all year, the University of Manitoba Bisons’ season ended prematurely as the women’s hockey team faced off against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in a Canada West quarterfinal matchup. The Huskies upset the herd by winning two straight games to secure the best of three series and move on to the Canada West semifinals.


Men’s volleyball prepares for playoffs

The University of Manitoba Bisons men’s volleyball team was in action this past weekend with a difficult clash against its provincial rivals, the Brandon university Bobcats. The Bobcats didn’t go easy on the Bisons, sweeping both games of its weekend series. This moved the herd’s record to seven wins and 11 losses on the Canada West regular season.
