Bisons drop two to fifth ranked Golden Bears in men’s hockey
This weekend the Bison men’s hockey team was in Edmonton to take on the Alberta Golden Bears in a two-game series. The Bisons lost 6-3 on Friday night, and were bested 5-2 on Saturday.

Geoff Gray has been named the Canada West Outstanding Down Lineman of the Year, making him a finalist for the J.P. Metras trophy which is given to the best down lineman in all of Canada.
This weekend, the Bison volleyball teams headed out to Kelowna to play a pair of games against the UBC Okanagan Heat.
On Saturday afternoon at the Wayne Fleming arena, the Bisons and Pronghorns did battle again, this time with the herd coming out on top with a 6-4 victory to split the weekend series.
The Bisons outshot the Pronghorns 32-24 but were unable to get enough past Garret Hughson, who was dynamite for the Pronghorns in goal.
The men are now 3-1 on the year and sit third in the Canada West behind local rivals Winnipeg Wesmen. The women sit in a seven-team tie for third in the Canada West with a 2-2 record.
The Dinos were the team to knock Manitoba out of the playoffs last season, and they got the better of them on Friday with a comeback 4-3 win. Manitoba came out strong in Saturday’s contest and took the game 3-2 to manage a split.
Fans will have to wait a bit to see this potential championship-winning side to play again at home, when they play the Alberta Golden Bears on Nov. 18-19.
