This past Friday night, the University of Manitoba Bisons women’s volleyball team had a tough task ahead of them, taking on the #2 ranked Trinity Western Spartans. The Spartans showed all their skill and class in this matchup, easily putting away the herd 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-15). Manitoba made it close in the second set, but in the end they were no match for the top team in the Canada West.

Trinity now has won their last three games and have an astonishing 16-1 record. They are currently sitting two points up on the University of British Columbia. The Bisons women have now dropped four in a row and are still looking for their first win in 2016.

Manitoba only mustered two kills in the first set, and were outscored 47-17 in that department as a whole. Spartans outside hitter Elizabeth Wendel smacked home 17 kills on the night, which was as much as the entire Manitoba squad combined. Sophie Carpentier added 16 kills of her own as well for the Spartans.

The herd’s weekend doesn’t get any easier, as they go back at it on Saturday afternoon at the Investors Group Athletic Centre against Trinity.
