People on the anti-abortion side who focus on quibbles over when human life begins and personhood gloss over a significant fact. There is an unquestionable (indeed, scientifically proven) life in this debate — the life of the pregnant woman, a person who is conspicuously and completely absent from Agnus Marie Lucus’s comment piece. When anti-abortionists remove the pregnant woman from the picture, they utterly ignore that woman’s fundamental rights to her life, and specifically her autonomy, dignity, and security of her person. That’s what worries me about the “pro-life” movement — it seems to be inherently anti-woman.
