Position: Newspaper Distributor
Company: The Manitoban
Salary: $250 per distribution (up to $500 biweekly) plus $50 in gas money every week
Contract: June 2023 to April 2024
Duties: The Newspaper Distributor is responsible for distributing the weekly editions of the Manitoban newspaper on U of M campus and locations across the city, mostly in the Exchange District and downtown, and reporting the remaining numbers from the previous issue back to the Business Manager and the Editor-in-Chief. The job takes anywhere from 8 to 12 hours in total, spanning over two days each week (on-campus Tuesday and off-campus Wednesday if necessary).
Applicants must have availability Tuesday and Wednesday. The first day runs from the afternoon to the evening and consists of campus, walking through the tunnel system and driving, and the second day requires daytime availability, and should be completed by late afternoon. A route and a list of locations and quantities will be provided each week.
The Ideal Applicant:
- Has a valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle
- Has Tuesday afternoon/evening and Wednesday daytime availability
- Can lift and push at least 50 pounds
- Is able to walk for extended periods of time
- Is comfortable working without supervision
