Last week the Bison football program announced the commitment of six local high school athletes for the upcoming 2011 season.

Running back Nic Demski, quarterback John Kiesman and defensive lineman Eric Dasset join offensive linemen Shahpour Birjandian, Mitch MacKay and Kieran Beveridge to round out the six recruits.

Soccer

Earlier this month, the Manitoba Bisons women’s soccer program announced the addition of Desiree Scott to the coaching staff, under the title of assistant coach.

“We are very proud of Desiree and her accomplishments,” said women’s soccer head coach Chris Lewis. “As a Bison alumni, she is a great example of what can be accomplished and we are very fortunate to have her continue in our program as an assistant coach next season. Her exceptional experience and knowledge of the elite game will be a powerful asset to our program for years to come.”

Scott was named the Bison Sports Female Athlete of the Year for the 2009-10 season and has spent five seasons playing for the Bisons, from 2004-05 to 2009-10. In her first year with Manitoba, Scott was named the 2005 Canada West Rookie of the Year and was named to the Canada West All-Star team four times.

“I am very excited to be given the opportunity to stay involved with the Bisons soccer program after my years of eligibility were complete,” said Scott. “I definitely miss the atmosphere and the team and I look forward to being able to help develop the individual players, the team and the Bison’s soccer program as a whole and have some fun doing it.”

    hii… i am a football player , i am an international student and played football for my school . i have also been selected by the university in india to represent it in football. we won silver medal in the interuniversity held at merrut. now i am UOM student and i want to represent UOM in football. i will give my level best .

    in our country soccer is also known as football. so i wish i should write i am a soccer player . i will give my level best to prove that i can do something for our university team . i apologise for writing the name of the game wrong . i wrote it according to our country . i am sorry for that
