This Friday, Sept. 20, the time has come to put on your dancing shoes and get your butt down to Times Change(d) High And Lonesome Club for an evening with Greg Arcade & His Rockin’ band and the Windups. If you’ve never been to Times Change(d), do yourself a favour and make this your first show there – you can thank me later.
Greg Arcade & His Rockin’ Band
The first thing you need to know about Greg Arcade is that Greg Arcade is “the shit.”
The guy is a sought-after session musician, songwriter, producer, and engineer. The creative mind behind numerous local projects—notably the Electrics and his solo work—Mr. Arcade has been a driving force in our local music scene for as long as anyone can remember. He’s the kind of guy that can hype an act like Colonel Tom Parker, then turn around and rock the stage like Carl Perkins. On top of it all, he has to be one of this city’s snappiest dressers. With his Rockin’ Band—Sean Andert (bass) and Justin Schafer (drums)—and an armada of toe tappin’, roots rockin’ songs, any chance to see these masters in action is an opportunity you are not going to want to pass up.
The Windups
How do you get a party started in Winnipeg? Book the Windups.
This prairie city loves the Windups. They rock the stage with a set of high-energy covers that always surprise the uninitiated and they execute the songs with a flare and pizzazz no other band—cover or otherwise—can match. Why does Winnipeg love the Windups? Because we can trust them to deliver the kind of show that will stick with us long after the sound of distorted guitars has decayed into silence.
So pop on over to Mr. Arcade’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/gregarcade) to get acquainted with the man and his music, but you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled in the real world for the Windups because they’re too busy rockin’ and rollin’ to waste their precious time on an online presence.
Be sure to get to the Times Change(d) early this Friday because it’s a small room with a lot of regulars, and you don’t want to be left out in the cold.
