Bison briefs

Hockey
Bison goalie Joe Caligiuri was named the CIS Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 2, 2011. Caligiuri had the perfect start to the season, earning back-to-back shutouts against Calgary in their first games of the Canada West season.
After enjoying a bye last weekend, the Bisons travel to Edmonton this weekend to play against the University of Alberta.

The Bison women’s team will be kicking off their season at home this weekend, hosting Alberta in their first two games of the season.

Football
The Bisons football team was enjoying a bye last weekend, but will return to action this weekend as they host the University of Alberta on Oct. 15 at University Stadium. The Bisons are in a tight race for a playoff spot and are looking to better their chances by notching a win against a struggling Alberta team.

Soccer
The Bisons were on the bye this past weekend, but will be travelling west this weekend to take on Victoria and the Fraser Valley.
