Food terrain

One night my mother made chicken with dinner. She asked me to try the chicken. I said “No, but thank you for asking.” She said “What . . . you should try it. It won’t kill you.” I replied: “Tell that to the chicken.”

I’ve tried all sorts of different ways to eat and stay healthy. I always ask myself: “What am I harming by eating this?” For me it’s been a long and continuing journey. Today I have the choice to eat what makes me feel right. I’ve eaten the meat in the grocery stores and thankfully I’ve been exposed to the horrors of the cattle industry.

So what’s next, veggies? Okay let’s try that. Not bad, after all the flatulence and no one’s hanging out with you any more because of it. The next question is: “Why no meat? Is it because it’s murder?” No, that’s not it for me. “Is it because of the animals?” No, not really; it’s more like there are other ways to eat without eating an animal. Look at a horse. A horse is a huge animal and it eats no meat.
So what’s next? Raw food. Oh great, like that’s any better. What about the seeds within the fruit or the vegetable? Aren’t the seeds part of the embryo of that life? Who’s to say that’s any different than meat?  Geez — and then there’s all the pesticides and so-called organics. Please, all the food out there is a product of human marketing. Oh, this product is better now because I saw it on TV?

So what do we eat next? Nothing. If what you put in your mouth makes you happy, don’t change. Eat what makes you feel right. Just maybe educate yourself on what you put in your mouth and make your own choice after you have the knowledge. Just like everything else in life.

The choice is yours.
