The University of Manitoba’s office of student advocacy is hosting Academic Integrity Week from Monday, Sept. 30 to Friday, Oct. 4.
Student advocacy has a booth set up in University Centre where students can take quizzes on academic integrity, enter to win prizes, or “spin the Wheel of Chance.”
In addition to the University Centre booth, stations will be set up at the Bannatyne campus’ Brodie Centre on Wednesday, and a “conversation about cultural differences in academic integrity” will be held in University Centre’s International Centre for Students on Thursday. A fourth station will be set up in the Elizabeth Dafoe Library on Friday.
The Academic Integrity Week initiative dates back to 1997, and aims to “draw the attention of U of M students and staff to the importance of academic integrity.”
The project has received awards from the Canadian Association for College and University Student Services (CACUSS) twice for its “innovative” approach towards educating university students on academic standards and honesty.
The office of student advocacy assists and advises students facing the possibility of academic disciplinary action. It also serves as a resource for students seeking clarification on their rights and responsibilities as U of M students.
