The finishing touches are being put into Investors Group Field, as the massive structure on the University of Manitoba campus is finally going to see football this season, after construction delays prevented such an occurrence from happening in 2012.
The new stadium will now host both the Winnipeg Blue Bombers football club, as well as the Manitoba Bisons football club, with massive upgrades in facilities, especially for the Bisons, as they enter a state-of-the-art venue.
Both teams now have sprawling amenities within the stadium, featuring locker rooms, weight rooms, equipment rooms, athletic therapy rooms, meeting rooms, and offices completely independent of one another. On top of this there are additional dressing rooms for visiting teams, high school teams, and performers, such as Taylor Swift, who performs the first concert at the venue on June 22.
The Bombers play their first game at the stadium, a pre-season tilt against the Toronto Argonauts on June 12, in front of what is sure to be a packed house. The fans in attendance will be greeted by wider seats with more leg room, a sprawling concourse, and no more trough to pee in. But you can’t win them all, I guess.
