Hey folks,
I'm looking for someone who can write Horoscopes consistently, either every week or every two weeks. They can be serious, or humourous, or whatever! Let me know.
Thanks
Hey folks,
I'm looking for wacky definitions, but here's the deal: they have to be made up. I'm looking for unusual social situations or funny happenings that there are no words for. See the Culture page on the website for examples or check out Douglas Adams' The Meaning of Liff, which I am ripping off. Try to keep them at 300 words or less. Thanks!
Never have economics and sports been so entwined. As arguably the most popular form of entertainment - the singular and unparalleled popularity of the NHL in Canada, the Super Bowl in North America, and the World Cup and Olympics across the globe strongly suggest this - sports is big business.
Is this a good thing?
Like a "bourgeoisie elevator" it allows young, often colored, athletes to rise from poverty to fame and fortune. It also allows troubled, impoverished cities to come together in spirit and commerce, like New Orleans when the Saints played their first football game after Hurricane Katrina.
Is this a bad thing?
The average sports fan has been priced out of sporting events due to rising tickets costs and PSLs. Cities lose their beloved sports franchises (the Jets, anyone?) because they refuse the foot the bill for (four, five, six) hundred million dollar stadiums and arenas.
What do you think?
If you have an opinion and want to voice it, let us know.

Hey there again!
So I've recently heard about a new genre of music called Opera Metal and I thought it would be interesting to cover.
The article should include interviews with Opera Metal musicians to discuss the rise of the new genre, where it's come from, and where it's going.
Should be interesting.

Have a prof you like/admire? Interview them! If you're able, in a hilarious Colbert-esque style. Scientists are cool, they'll roll with it.
Profiles of famous scientists outside of the university are desirable as well. If you're able to get an interview with one, then even better.

The main thing that Mac users horde over PC users is the elegant operating systems -- yet, projects like the Hackintosh ( more) enable you to install OS X on a PC. Is this easy? Can a normal dude/dudette do it?
Hey eager beavers! The Manitoban will be facing off against UMSU in a nighttime campus edition of Capture the Flag on Sept. 27. They're bringing their best volunteers, and, dagnabit, so are we! Contact editor@themanitoban.com (that's me) to sign up today and whoop some students' union butt!

Scientists nowadays tend to stick to scientific topics, but back in 'the day' they provided social commentary and were real celebrities. Which means they had crazy celebrity drama.
Observe Nikola Tesla's comment on Thomas Edison:
"He had no hobby, cared for no sort of amusement of any kind and lived in utter disregard of the most elementary rules of hygiene ... His method was inefficient in the extreme, for an immense ground had to be covered to get anything at all unless blind chance intervened and, at first, I was almost a sorry witness of his doings, knowing that just a little theory and calculation would have saved him 90 per cent of the labor. But he had a veritable contempt for book learning and mathematical knowledge, trusting himself entirely to his inventor's instinct and practical American sense."
Nice.
The comment section is looking for keen, agile, and eager masterdebaters to debate a host of different issues. If you're interested, please contact comment@themanitoban.com for more information.
