CIS/CFL team up for weekend of football in 2007
It’s a little extra incentive for Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) football players, who are hoping for a Vanier Cup appearance. In 2007, the university football championship will be showcased on Grey Cup weekend in Toronto. The Vanier Cup will be played on Friday night (Nov. 23), while the Grey Cup game goes Sunday as usual. It will be the 40th time the Vanier Cup is held in Toronto and the first time since 1992 that the Grey Cup will be played in Canada’s largest city.
This year’s Vanier Cup will be played at Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton between the CIS-second ranked Saskatchewan Huskies and the third-ranked Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday, Dec. 3. In 2006, Saskatoon hosts the Vanier Cup. The 2005 Grey Cup game is on Sunday, Nov. 27 at B.C. Place between the Montreal Alouettes and the Edmonton Eskimos.
