Athlete of the Week
(Aug. 30)

Desiree Scott - Soccer

As a first-year player, Scott made an impact right off the bat as the Bison women’s soccer team played its first exhibition games of the season. She had the lone U of M goal in a 3-1 loss to the University of North Dakota and had both goals in a weekend preseason match up with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.


Athlete of the Week
(Aug. 30)

Brad Black - Football

Black was Bison football’s top receiver and punt-returner in a preseason road win over the University of Regina Rams, with three catches and nine returns. He also managed to recover a botched field goal snap, returning it for a 71 yard recovery.


Athlete of the Week
(Sept. 6)

Ryan Zahara - Football

Zahara led the Bison football team to a 51-10 win over the University of Calgary Dinos in the herd’s home opener. He went 15 for 26 on the afternoon and contributed a 75 yard touchdown run in the third quarter.


Athlete of the Week
(Sept. 13)

Cory Huclack - Football

Huclack was named the Canada West Defensive Football Athlete of the week for his performance in a hard-fought 27-21 loss to the number two-ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies. He had eight tackles, two interceptions and one recovered kick. His play was instrumental in keeping the powerhouse Huskies at bay.

(Sept. 13)

Dana Baker - Soccer

The first-year women’s soccer player was selected as the first Canada West conference Female Athlete of the Week for the 2005-06 season. Baker scored the first-ever (CIS) goal for Bison women’s soccerand added another against the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns to give the Bisons a 3-3 tie in their first league game in history.
