Outta town
4th Annual Harvest Moon Festival: “Manitoba’s Perennial Farm Festival.” Clearwater, MB. Sept 23-25. Local music, food, folks, farm tours, more. www.clearwatermb.ca. *See Doug’s Week Out
Doug’s Week Out
At this time of year, it’s good to remember this simple equation: Moon + Donkey = Music. Multiply this by a tent, a bike, and a home-cooked meal and you’ve got yourself a weekend of farmy fun at the 4th Annual Harvest Moon Festival. The Harvest Moon Festival started back in ‘02 as a way of educating people of the urban persuasion about the issues facing local Manitoba farmers. The festival involves the usual mix of great music, great food, camping, dancing, and umm . . . experimental recreation, all the while making connections between farm folk and city folk. Clearwater is a picturesque sort of town that can remind even the most disgruntled Winnipegger that she does indeed love the prairies afterall. The perfect place to start your autumn! There is even a bunch of keeners biking their way from summer city to fall farm fun. (Contact 452-0594) Yes, it all adds up nicely.
